Agree with you, for some subjects like Law, English A (HL) is necessary.  Not sure if business studies require that, do you know?

Thanks a lot for your reply.  May I ask if your son is taking HL in Maths?  We are told that it is very challenging and not easy to get high scores...

And, is your son also taking HL Physics?  Is it very difficult as well?
Some people said that it is more difficult than HL Chem.

I guess your son is your only child, right?  Obviously you do a lot and plan very very well for him.

I have 2 kids, the younger one still in primary, so not so much time for the elder one.  Yet actually my elder daughter does not like us asking her about her IB choices or career interest, not to say arranging any meetings or visits for her.  So I just let it be.

My daughter also does not want to take HL Maths though her teacher said she is capable to.  As I know, if target at medicine, engineering, economics, or QF at  U, Maths HL will be a must.  For other subjects, seems SL in Maths is good enough... am I right?

I don't understand your options.  My daughter in ESF will take English A and Chinese A in Group 1, and no Group 2.

I think if your kid wants to study law, English A HL is a must, Chinese A can be HL/SL.  I don't think Group 2 Chinese B is acceptable for law faculty.

Even Chinese A is not a must, some lawyers I know advised that Chinese is important for studying law as well.  So Chinese A is preferred for working in HK.

So do you know what will be the required predicted score for, say, business faculty in top 20 universities in US and Canada (such as U of T)?  36 out of 42?
