Re: 各位給Dr.T的pm
Which part of Canada are you in? If you are in Vancouver, B.C., I have a good pre-school to recommend, they do care about children, and they don't discriminate children with special needs. In fact, the school principal helped me to push for earlier appointment and assessment from the govt. Eventually my son was assessed by a speech therapist, but she said my son was not too bad and therefore needed no speech therapies. The fact was lots of children whose conditions were worse than my son, as the govt resources was limited, therefore they would help children with more urgent need first. In Canada, waiting for 6 mths or a year is nothing!
We came back to HK from Canada about a year ago, my son was assessed quickly and given different therapies, now he has improved a lot.
I think the difference between Canada and HK is , Canada is very tolerant to children with different kinds of learning difficulties, especially speech delay, they tend to say, oh, they will grow out of it. But in HK, they take it seriously. I can't say the medical system in HK is better, but at least if I can afford, I can always get private medical care(specialists) and therapies. In Canada, I was willing to pay but still get no-where.
Do come and chat with us, the people in this chat-room are very nice and always helpful! |
