開學了！ 又要面對上課，想有經驗的bama一起分亨下經驗！ 我小朋友暑期前才發現有讀寫障礙，已在summer time 請了兩trainners 訓練已有許多進步！ 但還是擔心...

Dear Gongonma,
Most kids with Dyslexia would find it hard at school, especially when he proceeded to higher grade. But don't worry. If he /she got appropriate training, OT/ST would be able to find some solutions to lessen his/her problems.

Which organizations provide service for 讀寫障礙 training?  I suspected my boy has it.  He has difficulty recognizing words, though he has no problem associating the sound of the words to their meanings.  He sometimes writes mirrored words.  Although he has no problem in copying a word/character, he sometimes misses a letter/word in copying a sentence.

This is not my kid. I just meet them in my clinics. I am a physiotherapist and I co-work with OT.

The problems that they ususally meet include the inability to do dictation, coz they recall much slowly than others.

Besides, they write poorly. Eg, they write the word "錯" as "昔金". They will also write words in elevating pattern (斜晒).

For reading, some may omit part of the words...

These are the stuff that I have heard from my colleagues.

In fact, organizations , which has ST/ OT would provide training for dyslexic kids. To the best I know, Heep Hong Society do offer assessment and training. But they may have a long queue. If you don't wanna wait, u can call WidexHK for assessment. If you are interested, let me pm u.

Thank you for your sharing.
I know what my boy problem was, just as what you said.  BTW, after the training during this summer he really get very good improvement.  You know as a mother, hv try the best to overcome his weakness & rebuild his confidence, really don't to get worst after schooling....
May be  he can do his best in school & able to deal with problems, but as mother really worry.....

Dear gongonma,
I do  understand your worries. All parents want their kids raising up in a happy life/school-life. But don't give too much pressure to him first. If too much stress, he would withdraw. Then nothing can be done to improve him ga la!!

有一點經驗可分享，理工大學中護理學系黎程正家博士主理的宏利兒童學習潛能發展中心專研究閱讀難的孩子，黎博士很平易近人，予家長和孩子都有很大幫助。
最重要是家長接受孩子的困難，孩子不是病了，吃藥治療就會好；只有適當的訓練和父母無限包容和愛心，才能令孩子改善和適應困難，發揮潛能。
