讀computer science 會選擇美國、加拿大定英國大學?

加有5間CS很不錯的大學, UofT, UW, UBC, McGill, Uof Montreal.

- UofT同UBC, 两間基本上已佔據差不多一 ...

英國那邊應該唔會考慮，一來成績唔夠好，二來去英國就係國際生，學費比香港和加拿大貴幾倍，所以我地集中比較加拿大和香港的大學

我地研究緊UBC,SFU,UA,,會再explore下西岸其他大學

聽人說Victoria都唔錯，但我地未開始研究

選大學時可比較幾個參數
1. 有幾多知名Professor, e.g., 国家级既research head 或chair
2. 個dept总共有幾多faculties, 有幾多Adjunct prof, Affiliated同Emeritus Prof, 有幾多Post-doc (一般top cs dept, 通常都在300人以上)
3. 有幾多個research groups
4. 有幾多PhD學生
5. 多唔多scholarship, 通常錢多先多scholarship, 而成果通常同錢同人數成正比

以上提及的幾間u或US tier-1 的u, CS每年收生都近千人, 加上４年制, Year 1有好多credits係讀d common科, e.g., Math, 基本上由pure sci, business, engineering 同CS都要take的, 所以, 哩d 班大到好跨張, 好多時要开几班, 但都唔係個個學生收得晒, 收唔晒就要下個semester再簡过, 簡到有位為止.
畢業率唔高, 睇數句係真, 原因听講係有幾個版本.
1. 易入难出, 想多人學生入到心儀學科,但又唔想sacrifice個水平, 所以好多人中途讀唔惦要轉科
2. Uoft既畢業率係最低, 聽講因响市中心, 太多野玩, 而且d學生好proud 自己入到UofT, 角得自己好勁, 一定畢到業, 返而冇G12時咁努力, 結果衰左要轉校或轉科

但呀仔常常响library overnight, 佢話好多人同佢一样, 成日响library温書到天光(library 1致5开24小時)

所以, 我估两睇, 有努力也有不太努力的學生, 而哩d大學, 特別UofT, 有成八九万學生, 一定有d科小人报, 易d畢業, 例如讀唔惦CS, 咪轉去果d讀.

所以畢業率唔高有两個解讀, e.g.,
讀CS, 入10人, 畢業得番5個係有可能(另外５人轉了科), 業率就算幾低,
但, 入UofT 10人, 畢業有9人, 人成間大學來睇,業率就唔算低

最终要睇下個學生自己了, 我估International student成功率高d, 因比較勤力, local high school上果d, 比較自我...

你意思係咪即係有d科有成4/5百人要修,但其實係分開唔同professor,唔同班上課？不是同一個professor 同一班教4/5有人？

4/5百係個平均數,或者舉個實例.
year 1, 要讀2個math courses,基本上大部份degree programs 學生都要take , 所以总共有幾千人,但最大個lecture theatre都只可生400人,所以要分幾班同分开两個semester,同分幾個prof來教.

CS自己courses會好d,但year1係compulsory,而且也有近千人,所以仍然好多人同要爭,如果抽輸咗就要下個semester先可以讀.

這點亦都係我覺得唔係咁好的地方,一般UK同HK大学d師生比会好d,好少有個degree program, 一個年级有一千個学生咁多

非常錯誤，本人是科技從業人員，可以提供下看法。

美國的科技行業以及薪酬的確是 top水準這點無錯，但係香港相比英國加拿大而言，好很多。

香港的科技行業薪酬基本上可以達到英加的兩倍，甚至不少人移民到加拿大之後發現人工只有香港的三分一，甚至還不一定找到工作

按去年資料顯示(如下), 多大CS學生如果升Year 4前出去做一年Co-op, 人平最高係CAD 140k / year, 平均约62k /year (稅前).
按以下website 計算, 當CAD 62k 計, 税後靜可得到 CAD 44k 多少少

不过我個friend個仔, 考唔到UofT CS, 去左Ryerson  讀(唔識唔緊要, 係一間只有當地人識的大學), 佢去年开始Co-op,今年8月完, 佢話佢salary係CAD 85k年薪(稅前).

我都知HK IT人工高, 如果Canada 人工只及HK 三分一,咁真係好吸引禾.

以始friend 個仔為例, 税後年身有约CAD 60k, 即在香港Intern年薪得 CAD 60k * 3 = CAD 180k , 當CAD对HKD 1:5, 起馬HK 900k以上, 以一個只讀完大學year 3(还未畢業)來講, 九十万港子年薪真係好收引.

呀仔後年CO-op, 你可否介绍下HK的Internship job比我仔呀? 唔洗900k, 600k我都好滿意的! Thanks!

顺個人睇法, 可能錯的
從就業前景, 澳只能靠自已的三千多万人口, 但另外果幾個係
1. Canada + US = NA
2. UK + others = EU
3. HK + AP 係一個大部份的Asia market = East Asia (EA)
4. Aust = Aust

不过, CS对这4塊經濟體是必须的, 只是層面唔同, 如
1. NA 对CS需求会係 "产品"相对多於"應用", 因"vendors" 相对多, 而且塊餅大.
2. EU 对CS需求会係 "應用"相对多於"产品", 因"用家"相对多, 而且塊餅大.
3. EA 对CS需求会係 "應用"和"产品"都差不多, 因"vendors"同"用家"都差不多, 但塊餅亦大.
4. Aust 对CS需求会係 "應用"和"产品"都差不多, 因"vendors"同"用家"都差不多, 但塊餅细了些.

我仔2016年大三intern, 十週, 每週35工時, 時薪是44美元, 加班X1.5倍, 那是八年前的價位, 他還不算是CS, summer intern是DS方面, 他在紐約, 大城市, 工资高些, 但紐約工资還及不上矽谷.
莫非現在美國summer intern工資大不如前?
阿仔公司今年有請summer intern, 有機會我問問佢, 究竟時薪多少?

朋友的仔大二將會今年6月開始在Microsoft 做Summer Intern.  時薪55美元，加班x1.5. 每星期40小時。 如果大三會再高啲。

請問係咪要top u的cs program又高GPA才有机入果幾間大野做Intern? 我知UofT去年Year1 升Year2 有個CS華裔女同學summer去左Microsoft HQ做左4個月, 佢share比d師弟, 話大开眼介, 呀仔聽完流哂口水, 好恨去做summer intern, 但她是加籍, 唔知International student会唔会难d呢?

曾經聽過一個加拿大升學講座，話某大學Co op program大約有25％係國際生參與，但我唔知這是加拿大大學普遍％，還是只係該大學情況，top大學%是否這樣也不清楚
