我的女女已經八歲半, 就讀三年級啦!

剛升上小一時都適應了很久, 總之是"倒潟籮蟹"。平日都是祖母接放學, 她說最初的時候真的要"笠紙袋"才敢面對老師和其他的家長呢! 幸好我們遇到一位很有愛心的班主任, 大家都願意配合去幫助女兒去融入新環境。

我們這些亞氏保家症的小朋友很多能力並不差, 但是情緒行為,甚至語言上的挑釁往往會令師長及同學對他們有誤解。所以我們一定要和學校保時良好的溝通, 經過一段比別人長的適應期, 老師和同學會慢慢發覺我們孩子的優點的!

我同個仔做評估時選擇了不報上教統局,因我始終覺得我個仔問題唔係咁大!!

到小一.................迎新日就勁囉!
我同個仔個日係第一日返學校,八月,仲未開學.
小朋友同家長係分開的.到最後,班主任話有幾個家長要留底,我都估到實有我份!
在等老師時.........(因有其他要留的家長傾),我個仔就係周圍走周圍搞嘢,連課室個水嚨頭都要開吓!叫又唔聽!
老師話佢係度講解學校啲嘢時,我個仔不停講著"好悶呀!講完未呀!去參觀未呀!!!"...............唉~~~~~~~~~
咁我就張我個仔個情況講比佢聽,老師話佢以前都教過類似的一個學生,個個學生好聰明!!
老師看來都好諒解!

跟住開學幾日,我打電話問老師我仔在校的情況.
老師說他乖了很多,比起佢之前個位學生好很多很多倍!!

直到而加,我個仔都無乜大問題出現.係成日漏嘢同唔專心囉!不過我相信一般小朋友都會出現!
同埋學校出咗張"調適通告"比我選擇我個仔有乜特別需要,我就填咗要個仔坐近老師!
初因佢比較高,坐到最後,不過開學第一日老師巳幫我調咗佢上前!

我好感恩我個仔入到呢間小學
初同老公吵就係我老公要我仔讀樓下個間小學,我就選擇了另一間要搭校車(其實唔係好遠,若步行五個字至半個鐘),所以搭車十分鐘內到!
兩間都係Brand one小學,不過我就係覺得老師愛心口啤問題!
結果我覺得我無選擇錯,再感恩就係我個仔班主任聽聞曾讀兒童心理!!very good !

之前同個仔報咗三個收費課外活動,當中包括"專注力訓練",不過一樣都抽唔中,好失望.
但最近收到學校通告,反請我個仔參加該課程,還要費用全免呢!!
所以真的很感恩!!

亞氏保加症的小朋友真係唔易發現架，晌學校常被誤會是:滋事份子"，礙於佢地的說話能力不會令人聯想到佢溝通上的障礙，有時同老師講老師都唔信呢

確然，亞氏保加症的小朋友真的要多點時間去適應新事物，但我接觸過的一d亞氏保加症的中朋友(高小或以上)，佢地講過一個tips我知，等我晌佢地有情緒/行為差誤時教我點處理(冇錯!係佢教我點處理!)
佢地叫我遇上佢地有唔妥之前，的張問定佢地的clue sentence，以引導佢地處理事情。
例如佢情緒唔好時，我要問佢"我可以點幫你呀?"(哩句係其中一個中朋友晌傾談時告訴我的!)，or重複哩句說話，佢地
會比較易明白我說的話，就會真係想一想處理方法...咁佢地會易明白&處理自己喎

哩個係一個例子，只作參考用!大家可試試問下你身邊的小朋友，睇下佢地有冇哩d clue sentence?

坐唔定
成日係唔適當的環境做唔適當的事
感觀比較敏感
手腳大小肌肉比較差
每當做一些重覆的小動作(如打圏行,原地跳........)
佢哋一般都比較聰明
社交差,同朋輩相處有困難

蕊展計劃都有介紹亞氏保家症。有臨床心理學家同我解釋，亞氏保家症都屬於自閉症的大框框入面，但這類小朋友智力正常，有社交問題，言語能力ok，但大肌肉較差，所以會比較"論盡"。

其實心可以講過度活躍症加自閉症,每樣有DD!

Thanks much. I just downloaded this file. My son has several features like Asperger's syndrome, mainly on social skill, and emotional problem. He is now studying at international kindergarten, and he's very happy with the school. Do you think that Asperger kids are more suitable to study in Int'l school?

How's ESF's teachers handle this kind of students?

In a way, yes, because international school has less homework and classwork, it's easier for kids has weaker fine motor skills.

Also, they are more tolerant to special needs kids. My son's school gives lots of support to my son in class, they don't treat them as naughty/problem /lazy child like most local school does.

If money is not a concern to you, then I think International school may be a good choice.  Because even if your son didn't get a place with ESF, you still have the option to go for other more expensive intl school such as Yew Chung.

Actually, I have never thought of sending my kid to int'l primary school before. The features becomes more obvious when he's getting older. I knew his emotion is not good, but only until this summer, I was told by a speech thearapist that he might have Asperger tendency. Then, I changed to him to the int'l kindergarten which with more experienced teachers.

I don't want him to be discriminated by the traditional teachers. I am looking for any school with smaller classes, and experienced teachers. It seems to me that the teachers and parents of int'l school may be more open minded and easier to accept his behaviour.

Would you mind letting me know which school your kid is studying? You might email me if it's possible. Many thanks in advance!

According to our experience, I would say it's fortunately that we are able to send our son to the int'l kindergarten and now the int'l school.

Our son is not so high functioning as an Asperger kid (but my duaghter probably is an Asperger). However, he receives excellent support from the schools and their teachers. He enjoys his school life very much.  He just started his primary school this September. He settles well in the new school. The support and care given by his teachers are so wonderful that we really have to thank God!

Our son is not in ESF.

Just add one more point to my wife's (sjmama)...
Be frank to the principals and teachers during your school hunting exercise as this is the best way you can act in the best interest of your kid and find a school and teachers that are really receptive and caring.
