We were in your shoes last year. My daughter was also 17 and hence she had very limited choices. To my understanding, the medical schools in Scotland do not have age requirements but they do, in general, have strong preferences for home students, so competition for international applicants is very intense. I strongly recommend you to do some research on The Student Room. You'll be able to get some good advice there. In general, international students are capped at around 7-8%. Competition is keen. You'll need to apply strategically to maximise interview opportunity.
With your daughter's UCAT score, I would avoid those universities which place strong emphasis on SJT, such as Edinburgh and Nottingham. With her score, she should be able to get interview with Dundee, St Andrews and Aberdeen.

情況也同我囡兒上年一樣....真係要好小心選擇! 我地已經選不是最top個D...已經選沒有年齡限制..點知最後其中一間話係我地沒有GCSE成績(因為我地中四後直接過來讀sixth form)便失去了其中一間interview機會.所以要好小心選擇

As mentioned by the experts above, selecting uni stratefically is crucial. It's advisable to thoroughly review the entry requirements of each targeted uni and gather information from the relevant threads on The Student Room. This will give you an idea of which uni may be relatively safer choices. Apart from considering age limits, some uni also require GCSEs. If you daughter hasn't taken GCSEs, you must proceed with even greater caution. Based on my understanding of the 2023 entry, I would advise against applying to Nottingham if your daughter's sjt is band 2. Also, it's best to avoid applying to KCL. Although my son scored above 3000 in UCAT, he didn't receive an interview invitation from KCL due to the absence of GCSEs and it is the only uni that he wasn't invited from interview. I have seen an international student with UCAT scores around 2900 but with perfect GCSEs grades was invited for an interview at KCL. Cardiff appears to consider GCSEs as one of the factors for shortlisting students for interviews. The uni in Scotland are challenging to access as they tend to give priority to Scottish applicants. Wishing your daughter the best of luck!

請問大家，我個仔是international student, 無考iGCSE, UCAT 2750，SJT 1, International Student 取得這個分數，明白機會很微，但應該報哪些大學的med schools 機會大－點？5th choice 穩陣啲，可否報比較有名氣的biomed ？UCL / KCL biomed難入嗎？感謝！

咁唯一揀啲冇咁側重UCAT成績嘅學校。我小朋友都係一樣，有自己嘅諗法，我唔敢講太多。我女有個同學同你小朋友差不多成績，佢舊年Edinburgh 有interview。首先要增加interview 嘅機會，加油呀！

Yes and no. As long as you meet the threshold (you'll need to check the website of individual university for its admission requirements and selection process), interview offer is based on UCAT / BMAT score. After interview, conditional offer is based on interview performance and/or UCAT (some universities use UCAT for post-interview selection weighting but most don't. Again, you need to check individually).That means PG 41 vs 45 (for IB for example) doesn't make a difference, as long as you meet the threshold.

我建議有興趣嘅同學過去THE STUDENT ROOM睇吓
仲有記住international students cut off 比UK高好多


仲有部分學生只收UCAT SJT 1，例如Edinburg

如果SJT 3, 可以考慮唔睇SJT嘅學校例如Glasgow
