Only comic books previously. Because of the movie, a few books were publised whhich are based on the movie. There is one junior novel suitable for younger kids and the one I mentioned above is the full version of the movi, suitable for competent reader.

我女就好喜歡幼兒版本既Magic school bus.
幫佢地揀書真係幾傷腦筋, 要順應佢地口味之餘, 仲要選適當程度, 又要避免偏向一兩類別, 又要開拓下其他範疇......
我女成日想睇Flat Stanley 但佢程度又未到.

Some chidren just like a few books from this series, like my son. So it will be a waste if you got her the whole set.

都是的, 有可能只喜歡其中幾本, 反正圖書館有, 等佢借完睇完再決定買唔買都唔遲.

尋日見我女睇緊書, 走埋去問下佢好唔好睇, 佢原來剛睇到緊張情節, 同我講: "媽咪,我好驚呀, 有怪物捉佢地呀", 之後見happy ending 佢就笑晒.

請問有無d類似Magic tree house 有一大系列, 差不多又或淺一點程度的chapter book, 或者女孩一點的?煩請推介一下

For girls, Jacqueline Wilson's books are very good. She wrote many books but two of them (forgot the name) are for beginner, check her website.

For boys, younger ones like Mighty Robot, Captain Underpants, Franny Mad Scientist, Horrid Henry (they have some early readers), Geronimo, Andrew Lost.

My son likes NG Kids Almanac very much too.

Lately, my son is reading the Horrible Geography books and is asking for the Horrible Science books. He found the series of Horrible books interestinng after reading the Horrible History books previous year. Though, I feel the drawings are quite horrible.

Hi Huba! I tried to get my boy to read the horrible books but he has no interests in them yet. I'll keep trying!

Last time he refused to read the Beast Quests because they are thicker than what he used to read. I bought an ebook and "resolved" his worries. Getting him to keep reading is challenging, but rewarding!

很快便可以收到圖書,只可惜的是十幾本書都是個別以厚紙皮信封連收據寄出,我覺得要收足十幾本厚紙皮信封有點浪費和唔環保.

I recently got two "Andrew Lost" books. This series (about 10 books) is quite interesting and I think most boys would like it. I think they are suitable for boys studying P.2 and onwards.

Also, I got "Avengers" from Joint Publishing yesterday. It is based on the movie and it immediately becomes my boy's No. 1 book because he just watched the movie in the weekend.

The story of King Midas getting donkey ears is in both books and is told in much more details in the Usborne one. The Atticus book covers 100 short stories, the Usborne book has fewer stories but each one is much longer. We already have an Orchard Greek myths story book so I buy one with more new stories. But The Usborne book's glossary will be excellent as a companion book to The Percy Jacksons! Difficult to choose, right?

Thanks for your opinion.  I would then first purchase the one you bought, then set my eye on the Usborne one later.  My daughter's school use Greek Myth as their P.5 English module, so I would like to feed her some backgroud. . . well, though there is still 3years to go.

This round I purchase more book for myself as I am addicted to J.R. Ward's vampire series and cannot find them in the public library.

I bought few puzzle books for my daughters.  I found the Everything kids' series puzzle book is quite interesting from Dymock, so I order some from BD.

阿囡今年瘋狂地喜歡看Enid Blyton的書, 最喜歡的series 有: Thy Mystery series, Famous Five series, The Adventure series, Naughtiest Girl series, Malory Tower series, St Clare's Series, etc. 不過, 仍未睇過wishing chair series.

她最近亦看了CS Lewis 的 Narnia.

I don't know with all the work by Blyton, which series is easier, but I think there are books that you must have at home, just like Horrible Science, work by Ronald Dahl, Enid Blyton is probably one of them.

內容儘是公主呀, 靚裙呀, 花呀靚呀...老實說我自己受不了這類題材. 但女女就非常喜歡和受落, 果然女孩子們都是喜歡公主故事.

My gal loves school stories very much and recommends Naughtiest Girl series. If yours likes school stories, may also try Malory Tower series. But Amelia Jane series is easier.

Will ask my gal for comments on Blyton's books of adventure stories tonight.

我個女又係只睇 Rainbow Magic, 唔鍾意 Tiara Club or Felicity Wishes. Tashi, Magic Tree House, Geronimo, Astrosaurs 都唔鍾意，不過 Oliver Moon 又ok 喎。Tashi 同 Oliver Moon 係咪差唔多難度？

佢最近睇緊 Magic Kitten, Not quite a mermaid 同 Seriously Silly series；本 Wishing Chair 入咗雪櫃⋯

My girls love Usborne young reading series. The pictures are very beautiful and include both fiction and non-fiction (e.g. stories about chocolate). Some non-fiction are popular titles, e.g. snow white, but some are original stories. I usually purchase them from a Kwun Tong book shop at ware house sales. there are illustrated stories by William Sheakspares, Dickens, Illustrated Classics for boys and girls. I believe all of them can let our children have an early taste of the world's best literature.

You can also consider the advance level ORT reader. Mainland version is much cheaper than HK/overseas version.

Thanks for all your advice. My daughter doesn't show interest to books with old style illustration. Therefore I ordered the 2012 edition of the Naughtiest Girl. .

Usborne 仲有套 Beginners 科普書系列, 好好睇.

我套MAGIC TREE HOUSE 係大陸雙語版, 早幾年仲係HKD1=RMB1.2時買, 等咗幾年阿女先無端端攞尼睇, 係估佢地唔到.
有冇睇WINNIE THE WITCH? 有PICTURE BOOK, 又有CHAPTER　BOOK. Library 有PICTURE BOOK 連CD, 可以試下, 都幾有趣

咁啱嘅，我都係買套大陸雙語版，我買到 bk 20,阿妹睇到 bk 1x 就拉牛上樹咁，俾我好殘忍地捉佢要睇晒，唔好阻住清書櫃！不過仲有堆阿哥儲落嘅 accompanying fact bks，阿哥當寶，阿妹就完全無興趣。

Winnie the Witch chapter bks 有睇呀，仲要係好貴咁單本買完，至見到有平boxset！圖書館都有兩本 chapter bks 呀！

Enid Blyton D 舊款書真係好難叫小朋友睇上眼，圖書館仲係舊款 Famous Five⋯ 好彩陸續改緊版！希望圖書館會快過 D 新嘅，有得借就唔怕買錯書！

Among adventure stories of Blyton, Secret Seven series is easier, she said.

Yes, the illustration of Blyton's books is not attractive and quite old-styled.
