Re: St. Paul's Co-ed vs. HKUGA Primary School
Dear 麟媽媽,
You seem to be very upset about my message. Please don't. I was answering a parent's sensible question which is very material and relevant to her case. This is because she is asking about the enrolment rates of kinders by HKUGAPS which is a DSS. As you should know, there is a process of selection by all DSS schools. To parents, they may like to know, as background information, the success rates of the kinders in enrolling HKUGAPS.
You quoted Vict Kinder's rate of enrolment in Marymount, St Joseph's and Wah Yan for 2004-2005. You seem to suggest that the enrolment rate for these famous traditional schools for Vict Kinder is good. You have not quoted the enrolment rate of Vict Kinder for all other schools.
You must remember that the three famous schools that you quoted are government subsidy schools. There is no selection process. It is by computer draw. Kids all over HK have a chance to join the lucky draw. Some of course enjoy benefits (extra marks) by inheritance. So whichever kinder that the kids studied is not relevant, whether they come from famous or non-famous kinders.
So DSS schools have every right to choose whichever kid is the best and also the best suited to the school. Whereas govt subsidy schools will get a wide spectrum of students, whether poor, rich, dumb, genius. The two types of schools are just different. So don't get upset if your kid is not studying in a DSS, or a famous DSS, which requires keen competition. So long as your child enjoys the school, it's OK.
