Back from US, go to international school or regular school?

Hi everybody,

We're living in the US right now.  We plan to go back to HK in 2 years.  By that time, my older daughter will be 6 years old.  Do you think she should go to international school or regular school?  One of my concerns is her Chinese ability.  Another one is how she'll adjust to the HK style classroom.  Any suggestions?

Re: Back from US, go to international school or regular school?

We come back from the states too. I let my babies study at the traditional school since I believe Chinese is more difficult than English. 2)China is getting powerful in the world. 3) traditional school is harder than the international one. If they cannot deal with the school life, then i will go to the easier way. Hope this is useful.

Re: Back from US, go to international school or regular school?

One of the key consideration to send my kids to international school instead of local school is the teaching philosophy.  While international schools stress on the learning process and encourage kids to think and be creative,  I'm afraid a lot of the local schools stress more on memorization and takes away the thinking.  But of course, alot also depends on your child's personality.

I can't agree more.  A very fair comment from jollymom!  What I like about international schools is not the way the children are trained to speak English flawlessly, but their teaching philosophy.
