For 2009 K1 application: Age Requirement: Children born between September 1, 2005 and December 31, 2006.

My son was born on Nov, 2006, that is "small" kid. Is the chance to get in St  Catherine will be lower? Any mom has similar experience that your BB could get in?

Can someone share the interview experience there? I chose interview in English, but I wonder what they will ask if the kids are 1 year difference?

Please advice. Thanks very much.

St Cat does accept 'small' BB.  All depends on
the kid's performance.  Questions are around
shapes, colours and something on a daily life
basis like whose is this bib for?  If the kid still
doesn't speak that much, pointing at the
correct answers will do.

Hi MountainView,

No worry that your son is a small kid. My girl was born in Dec 05 and now she is in the nursery class in SC.  SC will put "big" kids and "small" kids into different classes in order to facilitate teaching them.

For the interview experience, it doesn't matter whether u choose English or Chi (although my girl also chose Eng as the language for interview).  They just ask simple questions regarding shapes, colors, fruits etc.

Thanks. So, if he replied some objects in Chinese instead of Eng, is that OK? If we chose Eng, as long as he understands what the teacher asks, it will be OK?

You should choose the language that your child is
comfortable with.  Your choice of language would not affect the result of the interview as long as the child answers correctly.  I'm not sure if it matters when you choose Eng interview but the child answers in Cantonese.  Teachers are looking for English answers in the English interview of course.
BTW, both of my daughters attended Cantonese interviews.

It's hard to say but for my daughter, she only
pointed at the correct pictures.  She didn't even
said good morning and goodbye!!!!!  When the
teacher asked her what does she use to draw
a picture and gave her a few objects to choose(
a ruler, a crayon, a eraser, and a spoon). She didn't choose any one but said how could
I draw without a piece of paper?  When I offered her a piece of paper, she grabbed the crayon and
drew a sun.  I was worried that she couldn't make it.  She is now in K2.
