my girl has completed the JMC course in February and is currently attending the JXC.  She is invited to attend an test coming Sun for JSAC. not too sure what it is    will let you know more about it after Sunday then?

oh really, my girl will have the test at 12 noon.  May be your son will be the one after my girl.

As for the JXC course, we have already attended 4 lessons. So far so good, as compare with JMC, it is much more advanced and difficult not in terms of playing the pieces, but they start to teach the cadence chord which is the basic for composing pieces. Again ear training is very emphasized.  

I'll just let my girl try on the test coming Sunday and see what will be outcome, JXC or JSAC for me makes no differences, just any exposures for her anyway.

Hi,

My son has attended JSAC for six months. Parents cannot attend class in JSAC class.  He learns transpose - playing songs in  different major/minor, composing left hand piece/chord, sight singing, playing ensemble, making variation in songs.... etc.

Anyway, just attend the audition test first. It only lasted for 10 minutes for my son last time. It test 'aural' i.e hearing, identifying sound from musical instrument, and he said he played piano with the teacher, - he played left hand, teacher right hand.

hi wewangwang,

thanks for your sharing... may I know how old is your kid ?  My girl likes playing piano and after 2 years JMC she has been trained up with good hearing.  She recognised all the notes. However, after we have been attending 4 lessons of JXC, I found the course will be too difficult for kid at the age of 6 without parents.  e.g. the teaching of cadence,  I remember I learnt it at my Grade 4-5 theory.

Anyway, I'll let my girl attend the audition test and see what will be the result then.

Hi Ramomo,

He is 7.5 now.  After the audition test , he had waited for 4-5 months for the class as T.L said there was not enough students for a new class. Some of his classmates came from the later 'lots' are younger than him.

Thanks Ramomo & wewangwang for the sharing. The staff said Sunday test have around 30 people and result will issue around one week. It's depend how many students pass the audition and  new lesson will issue for those students. The class will held in TST
