Hi,

Not sure the sequence of knock door, is it

1. apply private/DSS
2. Govt/Subsidy School lucky draw
3. knock door

Is it knock door the last step and is it limited to Govt/Subsidy.

If failing in the interview for private/DSS school, can it knock door later and if yes by when. Thx

叩門係什麼學校也可以,但接唔接受就看學校啦

直資也可以叩門的,希望你的小朋友入到心目中的學校啦

Sorry that i might have some mis-understanding on knock door.

Does it mean that after first batch acceptance of private/dss and then luck draw on govt/subsidy school.

And if there are still remaining seats on the above schools, then we can knock door?

基本上DSS/Private來說,申請的人數一定大於學額,而被拒絕的申請人中,也一定有人會向學校叩門,看有沒有人withdraw.

而官津來說,教育局是容許學校按照每班十分之一的超收額
所以只要學校願意收,在大抽獎後一定有位可以叩,但收生的權在學校

相反,DSS,教育局係事先講明俾學校開幾多個位,多收一個政府都唔會俾津貼的,所以學校好少會沒有資助下像官津多收學生.所以也會少叩門位,除非有人唔讀

When to knock door? Straight after the lucky draw? What kind information req'd?

So, is it possible that if i have failed the interview in private/DSS for the first round, then i can still knock door later on those schools when somebody withdraw. Will it be before or after lucky draw?

I think "knock door" mainly refers to subsidized/govt school.  After the result of luck draw announced, some children for some reasons do not register at the assigned school.  including ~2 留班 seats per P1 class (school usually not use the seats for 留班) The school has some extra seats to accept some children it wants.  This is the phrase for "knock door."

For DSS/private school, "knock door" may still be possible.  However, there are already many in the "waiting list", and I don't think popular DSS/private schools would have seats for "knock door."
