I have the feeling that the admission grade of HKU lower than CUHK is unbelievable.

No matter of how many applicants from mainland, the limit is 5% and they compete among themselves.

20k for non-JUP ...

I feel that HKU likes to take (or have more quotas for) more international students than CUHK, not necessarily taking students with lower scores, but may be with more non-academic qualifications and experience?

And, HKU's language requirement seems to be higher than CUHK?  English is higher for sure.

I agree with you that non-Jupas quota may increase in future when there is no more EAS.

High language requirement favours IBDP students according to a CUHK professor.

In another post, I mentioned to have strategy to position our kids for better chance to get into hot program(s).

1. Local and or overseas summer attachments
2. Overseas relevant summer programs

You kid will have IBDP in 2012.......

Oh, my kid will have IBD in 2014, we just understand the U requirements and different faculties earlier so that she can choose IB subjects correctly next year.

From this year onward, more examinations and program selection are passed back to him as the primary and we are as parents only secondary. He finished his examination a weeks before and he also applied LPCUWC, so he didn't have time to check about SAT.

As usual, he may not go for any preparatory course before the exam. He will run through the syllabus and may download some past papers to familise with the format and that's it.

For F4 and F5 students suitable to sit for SAT or not, I have no comment. From my best knowledge, you can sit more than once, so earlier is not an issue and no overlap with IBDP, GCE, HKDSE is critical.

Welcome other parents to share more on SAT.

My son informed me that he preferred to study either in HK or UK and dropped USA. So he won't sit for SAT at this stage.

His reason and research concluded that US universities know that IB equivalent to AP, but still insist IB candidates to sit for SAT. Instead, waste of time in different examinations, just focus on IB exam.

I don't comment on his choice, we wait and see his Pre-IB examination result before planning for next steps.
