有無上過 haodoo.net? 上面啲書可以從 Kindle 直接下載嚟睇，不用經電腦, 揀 .prc files 就可以了

有時阿仔有啲網上資料要睇，我會 copy as .doc file 再 send 去 kindle 俾佢放大睇，都唔係好麻煩，保到佢地唔駛太早戴眼鏡就值喇

I used to read some documents on Kindle by using the email service that converts file into Kindle friendly format.  The problem I have is the formats gets completely mixed up and some documents are not really readable.  Nowadays, I do all of my reading exclusively on a mini iPad.  I really like the Goodreader app since it has many options (e.g. constant crop on each page, locking to a certain width, ...) to make reading pdf and other files a pleasure.  Even use my iPad for my Kindle books.  I did just order the Paperwhite since a friend highly recommended it for reading in a dark room which I like to do.

Kindle is not a general reading tool, it is designed to be a ebook reader. Other tools for reading PDFs.

I once typed an ebook for my girl. Formatting is easy if there is only text, no figures. I learned from this book:

For short paragraphs, again text only, emailing as .doc is much better than as .pdf.

Just like you, I also use Kindle to keep some documents especially those travel related papers for family trip such as itinerary, etickets and travel insurance papers.
Although I have not typed any ebook for myself, I did send my son a letter for him to receive in Kindle. I typed the letter in Word document format and sent it to my Kindle mailbox. Then, let Kindle to read out the letter.

Both me and my son will use it. Probably lower level chapter books, parenting & psychological books and the Bible. Does anyone know whether there's kindle version for the Bible (English & Chinese)?

It's not related to any school work. Just personal message to my son. At that time, I tried to attract him to use Kindle. However, he only enjoys reading the real books and only occasionally read news on Kindle.

Can't say reading with the kindle is not harmful. Chinese suffer from myopia more than hyperopia. And near work, including reading, makes us even more prone to myopia.


I think your question really is, "is reading with the kindle more harmful than reading printed books?" The answer is no.


Kindles use e-ink, which to the eyes, is just like printed books. So we should still read with good lighting, good posture and with enough rest and breaks.


On the other hand, is reading with the kindle better than reading printed books?
Suprisingly, yes! because you can adjust the font size. Reading larger prints is less tiring for the eyes and thus healthier.


But your boy is quite young, still reading picture books? Current technology only allows for black and white e-ink display. Colorful picture books are only available for Kindle Fire or iPads,  and those are not good for the eyes.

But if you yourself like to read then why not buy a kindle for yourself? Your boy will then like it more and he will be more willing to switch to the kindle once he can read early chapter books.
