Does your son's kindergarten teach Phonics together with IPA at the same time?

Or which one (Phonics or IPA) does it teach the kids first?

IPA The Easy way published by Longman
It contains a vcd, showing the close up of the month how to pronounce of those sounds: vowels, cons ...

Principle,
My son learnt Phonics when he was in K2 and he is stilling learning Phonics in the class. But when he is listening the IPA, I can feel that he also learnt some IPA durng the class in K3.
So I think the kid can learn IPA even when they are 5-6 years old. And if they can maintain to practise it, that would be the best.

fyi - yesterday, i noticed that in my son's homework, they already marked the IPA in each word, such as pan, fan, van...
You may consider to buy vcd in the bookstores or consider the one I recommend (my son likes it too.) if you want your kid to learn earlier.
These few days not much work during office hour (actually I'm too lazy) and so I read through this thread and found that all the TSL parents are so kind... really glad that my son will join this school..

1) I will consider to buy the book you recommended to have a feel on what IPA is.
But do you think your son can learn IPA already with some progress when he is only in K3?
Will Phonics be a little bit easier for him?

2) Yes, if you have spare time, it is worthwhile to read through all the information posted here.
You will then have some ideas about the school life that our children have experienced in the past one and a half year.
TSL is indeed a very happy school.

各位：請問如有在校外拿到的獎項，如繪畫，是否要向校報上，又有甚麼用途的呢！是否有分加呢！

Yes, if you want, you can report those outside awards to the relevant subject teacher or the class teacher.
Normally, the school will consider to post it on the school web site.
As you can see, the school web site will be updated almost every week to post all sorts of awards (i.e. poem recitation, music, sports, arts, Maths, dance, and so on) got by different pupils regularly.

I think the main objective is to encourage those pupils to keep up their good work/efforts.
Besides, the school/teachers may pay attention to those pupils who have talents in certain areas and  may give them more chance to develop their potential in future.

我囡囡是在28/2.  鋼老師說如有信心就穿自己衫, 如覺得自己彈普通的話就著校服.  上一年我地個場大部份著自己衫. 得獎的有一個穿PE UNIFORM. 兩個是自己衫.  我估可能衣著不是咁重要!

how old are your kids who attend the piano competition?? My son have learnt piano for less than 1 year and so I don't think he is good enough to participate in the competition. So just want to know for the future may be...

Dear all,

Just noticed that today is the World Maths Day.
For details, please read the email in the e-class.

There is an online Maths competition from 7p.m. today till 7 p.m. on Mar 6th (Thu).
There will be over 1 million pupils around the globe from
more than 20,000 schools all over 150 countries
to join this event!
It is surprising to know that TSL ranked 17th in the
world last year.

Therefore, after finishing the homework and before going to bed, do ask your children to spend some time to
participate in this interesting event.
Just saw my child competiting with kids from the U.S.,
U.K., Qatar, Pakistan, Singapore and so on.
It's interactive and you can see whether you are ahead of them or lagging behind in the game real time?

Dear all,

Please note that there is a new announcement  regarding the suspension of school just posted on the school web site.

The Open Day originally scheduled on coming Saturday (March 15th) will be postponed until further notice.

Hope  our kids will not be seriously affected by the rampant flu viruses.

Now, don't know what to do for my son for this 2 weeks sudden vacation. Any idea from the mums
