My son was in pm 10 years ago as P1, he is in F4 now, I shared my experience may provide some useful tips for you.
1. Working parents - in that case, pm is a good arrangement. You may back home and have dinner around 20:00, still have quality time (chatting.....) and you can check their homework or do some revision.
2. Tuition - have both pm and am near the school, no difference. If they can maintain their standard, I recommend not to take tuition. Some working parents take tuition as childcare, esp in am.
3. ECA - may have some inconvenience, as some organization or teachers start at around 10~11 in the morning. You need to adjust to the availability of activities and not just the activity you prefer. For music, may not a big problem, for sports may be a problem. For ECA, just for fun and as hobby, not a big issue. If they got talent, their training may group to Saturday and Sunday. The general ECA standards in NPMPS are not very strong, quite easy to join the school teams. For choir, their practices are in the am for pm classes and vice versa.
4. High Learning Ability Students - The school has special arrnagement / enrichment program to support HLA students called 創思小組. The teacher will identify them or your kids have IQ test report, you can talk or self-introduce to your class master or headmaster. The training focus on creativity, social skills and upgraded learning method. pm class will be arranged in the morning, they may need packed lunch.
Most ECA also competitive, am classes not necessary will have advantage over pm. Schooling is for studying, don't put ECA in front of studying.......
My experience in NPMPS, no matter am or pm are excellent in Eastern District in terms of conduct, academic results (62~67% B-1), other activities..........
Enjoy the time........ |
